"The Mirror"

               The Mirror
                            By Judi Hunziker

Today I saw a little girl,
with hair of gold and lots of curl.
She didn’t speak but I could see,
that long ago she looked like me.

Today I saw a girl in love,
a love so strong sent from above.
She didn’t speak but I could see,
that long ago she looked like me.

Today I saw a bride in white,
with hopes and dreams and much delight.
She didn’t speak but I could see,
that long ago she looked like me.

Today I saw a Mother of two,
blessed with boys her dreams came true.
She didn’t speak but I could see,
that long ago she looked like me.

Today I saw a Grandmother of three,
two girls and a boy so blessed was she.
She didn’t speak but I could see,
that long ago she looked like me.

Today I saw a Great Grandmother of one,
holding the hand of a little girl
with hair of gold and lots of curl.
She didn’t speak but I could see,
that now she looks just like me.

Got Snow?

In my 66 years living in Vermont, I have never seen a February without snow. The winters accumulation melts around the first of April when the temperatures reach into the fifties and sugaring is well on its way. This morning I took a picture of the front of our house while walking Tucker for his morning deposit to show the lack of snow in our yard. I found a picture taken a day later in February in 2011 which was taken after a "normal" (typical for February) snow storm. To think there are actually some people that still don't believe in global warming astonishes me. Granted they say the weather this year is due to a record El Nino but why did we have a record El Nino? Global warming!
