My Little Izannah Walker Style Dolls~ All Are Sold!

And Then There Were Nine!

Since I have decided to use one of my shoulder heads for a mold, number 9 is the final doll in this series. I still need to stitch her waist band in the back. Today I will hopefully get a good group photo so stayed tuned.

For those of you that have been checking back to see about my latest project, here is a picture of what I have finished so far this week. I have six more bodies, dresses, petticoats and bonnets finished. Tomorrow I start sanding and painting the shoulder heads which is actually my favorite part of the whole process. I thought you would like the girls peek-a-boo picture in the mean time.

My Latest " BIG " Project

I am currently working on 10, yes 10, Izannah Walker Style dolls. They are between 12" and 14" tall, the perfect cabinet size. It may take me months to finish them as I have a lot of work to do but I am determined to finish them.  I will post a group picture when they are finished.

These four are finished, six to go!

Izannah Walker Style Doll is Finished!

Today I have finished making my latest Izannah Walker doll.  Her outfit consists of antique pantaloons, skirt and blouse with lots of embroidery. I think she looks more grown up in this outfit.

Making Progress!

I finally got around to painting my Izannah Walker style doll today, stitched on her arms and legs and covered her body with a knit fabric.  She has two bonnets and I am working on a different outfit. I can't decide which ones work best, I will make a final decision when they are finished.

A Tour of Vermont's Fall Foliage

As promised, here are some pictures taken around Vermont this year. Today it was 74 degrees and sunny, beautiful day for touring. It will be rainy and very cold over the next week so I am glad I got the chance to get out one last time. Enjoy!

A New Project Started~Izannah Walker Doll

Yesterday I started an Izannah Walker doll, lots of work yet to do before the painting stage but you can get an idea with my pencil marks on her face. I always seem to put the eyebrows too high so I will have to remember to lower them later. Have a great day my friends.

"Tucker" has joined our family!

I am very pleased to introduce a new member of our family we named "Tucker".  He is a shelter dog I saw on-line at the Franklin County Animal Shelter which is about 10 miles from where we live.  I filled out an application and received a call the other day that he was ours if we wanted him. Tucker is a two year old male poodle ( some papers state he is a toy and others say he is a miniature) who is house trained, can sit and lay down on command and LOVES cuddles. He came into the shelter as a stray, very matted and with fleas, poor guy and someone forgot to dock his tail when he was a puppy. His long tail bends forward over his back and is constantly wagging. I am tempted to put a bell on it, LOL.  We set up a crate for him last night but he had other designs for sleeping arrangements in his new home. He slept all night curled up in our bed as close as possible and never stirred. We are on a home visit status for a week but have the option of adopting him anytime...I am thinking this little guy has a new permanent home and he couldn't be happier. More pictures soon.

90 Gallons of Cider!

The cider pressing is finished for the season and we yielded 90 gallons which is double what we have had in previous years. I signed up for two consecutive weeks at the local farmer's market so we made some money this year which helps considering all the work into the process. Everyone we have spoken to has stated that this years apple crop far exceeds previous years. My granddaughter Violet has been visiting for a week with her mom and dad, Teague and Sarah and daughter Johanna as well. We had a great family get together the other night with 12 people gathered for cider and nachos and salad. Watching the next generation of children was such fun. I saw this picture of my great granddaughter Lily picking (eating) apples this past week end and had to share it. Have a great day!

A New Project Finished!

I have always wanted to make some stitched pin keeps and was recommended a book by a fellow stitcher which arrived the other day. I have made up three dyed velvet pin keeps pictured below. I love the colors, quite fitting for Autumn I believe.

The Last Days of Summer!

It's coming, Autumn is almost upon us. The nights are getting cooler, there is a damp fog in the early morning, pumpkins and mums are now for sale at the local store and the corn fields are almost ready for harvesting.  It won't be long before we are seeing flocks of geese heading South, the black birds and Blue jays are already flocking together and making quite the ruckus around here. Enjoy the last days of summer my friends.

A New Project Finished!~Victorian Button Keep Dolls

I am making a series of Victorian ladies. They slip over a mason jar you can fill with buttons and their bodies will keep your pins and needles.
