An Izannah Walker style doll re-painted

I decided to re-paint her eyes (they looked too droopy before) and scuff her up a bit. I applied an antique gel stain which makes her look like an old doll rather than a shiney new one which I prefer on this doll.

Introducing "HOPPER" ~A Little Easter Bunny

Hopper is 6" tall made of muslin with needle felted grey wool covering his body.  He has black bead eyes and filament whiskers.  His feet are stitched, painted black then sanded to a grey finish. Underneath his pads are painted pink. He is wearing a white satin bow tie and is holding a spray of Easter pips for his special gal.

Antique Style Izannah Walker Doll

This Izannah Walker style doll is the first I have created using LaDoll clay. In comparison to Creative paper clay I have found it to be much harder on the brick. The instructions say to work it with your hands moistened before application. I found that between the moisture and the warmth of my hands it became very soft and pliable and just as easy to apply over gessoed fabric.  It does seem to be a lot smoother when water is applied, you can smooth it out very thin, has hardly any shrinkage and no cracks appeared in the neck or eyes that I have experienced with Creative clay.  I even think the drying time is shorter. I do not think the finished product is any lighter than the Creative clay is. If you aren't in a hurry to actually apply the paper clay without fuss then I would recommend this, I even think it is cheaper. I bought six bricks which are each a tad over a lb. each for $8.22 (bulk rate).

It Is Time To Make More Dolls!

I just finished cutting, sewing and stuffing six dolls. I am going to try using a different type of paper clay with these so wish me luck. I had been using Creative Paper Clay but decided I wanted to try LaDoll Clay as they say it is lighter, we shall see.  Has anyone used it and do you like it?

Today there is a chill factor of minus 7 degrees and it is expected to get even colder tonight. Olde man winter has decided to show up in New England. We have about 20" of white fluffy snow so the skiers and snowmobilers are very happy.  I am staying warm by the fire stuffing my dollys drinking hot coffee.
